Who can apply for lessons at Alvoy Strings Academy?

Alvoy Strings Academy is designed for non-beginner violin and viola students who already have foundational training and are ready to advance their technique, musical interpretation, and performance skills.

Yes. All prospective students complete an audition submission to ensure they are prepared for the level of instruction offered at the academy.

What solo repertoire is required for violin auditions?

Applicants should perform one movement from Bach’s Six Sonatas and Partitas or the first movement of a standard violin concerto such as Bach, Mozart, or Mendelssohn.

Applicants should perform one movement from Bach’s Six Cello Suites or a movement from a standard viola concerto such as Telemann, Stamitz, or Hoffmeister.

Lessons are offered to motivated middle school, high school, and adult students who already have prior violin or viola training.
